Community spirited individuals who helped each other through last weekend's snow storm have been commended by the council.
People across the borough pushed cars, checked on their neighbours, gritted roads and shovelled snow.
In Windsor a number of 4x4 drivers were towing people who had become stuck and on Shoppenhangers Road, Maidenhead, people were out by force pushing motorists whose cars could not grip the slushy roads.
Another community in Hargrave Road, off Gringer Hill, took snow matters into their own hands by supplying their own grit.
Cllr Colin Rayner, cabinet member for highways and street care, said: "It's fantastic that people were helping each other out. I want to thank everyone for their support."
The councillor said that government pressure to use less grit has made treating the roads harder. He is encouraging residents who live in hard to reach areas to contact the council who will supply them with their own grit bin.
